At Rumah Kecil School we believe that playing in early childhood is the highest form of learning. We seek to develop our students into independent learners by thoughtfully incorporating and integrating play in all our lessons. This makes our foundational learning objectives more interesting and relevant. We also respect our students as an individual learner means we support the children to be the best version of themselves and with teachers and parents help, we develop a tailored pathway that promotes independence, creativity and imagination.
Rumah Kecil Scholl also believes that life skills are very important to children. Rumah Kecil’s Life Skill Program provides hands- on opportunity to children to build core qualities that will stay with them for life; resilience, independence, how to work as a team, how to solve the problems, the ability to bounce back after mistakes, perseverance and courage.
Early childhood is also the best time to start acquiring environment-friendly behaviors. We are firm believers that, through education, we can contribute to improving the environment. We have a program that implements a participatory approach that generates awareness and behavior change in our children and the school community, so that they become catalysts for change in our society.
At Kindergarten level, our learning program is based on playing and project based learning. The learning program is promoted within cognitive, physical and social emotional development. We also use Jolly Phonic as our learning method to build their basic literacy foundation. Within the delivery of our curriculum, students use a range of multi-sensory learning approaches. We encourage our teachers to deliver lessons that are favourable to a range of multiple intelligences.
We use Indonesia Curriculum as our based school program learning and adapt Cambridge Curriculum as our learning program on language and literacy. We use thematic system throughout the school year learning program. Every month the students will learn the objectives by using different theme. We designed the themes carefully so the students will learn not only academic skill but also the understanding about the world around them.
Across our school curriculum, we integrate a range of assessment forms to measure student’s acquisition of key skills. We use portfolios and per-term report card. In term 1 and term 3 we will deliver the report card by email. Parents can have a meeting with the teachers if it is necessary. In term 2 and 4 the parents will get a hard copy report card and there will be Teacher Parents Meeting.
